凯蒂·桑德斯 (MIPA ’05) has joined the Milwaukee Public Museum as chief planning officer after nearly six years as executive director of Safe & Sound. In her new role, she will coordinate the planning of exhibits and visitor experiences, space planning, partnerships, lobbying, public relations, and building and construction planning.
桑德斯 joined Safe & Sound in May 2013 as development and marketing director; 11 months later, she was named executive director. Founded in 1998, the nonprofit organization helps unite residents, youth, law enforcement, and community resources to build safe and empowered neighborhoods in Milwaukee.
"The Safe & Sound team is a group of incredible individuals, but Safe & Sound is bigger than each of us," 桑德斯 said in a 密尔沃基哨兵日报文章。 “这是一个想法，它的坚定信念，社区本身 - 人因人，逐块 - 有权力制定的变化和作为一个组织，我们是有帮助促进这一点。”
Under Sanders’ leadership, Safe & Sound received the 2016 FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award for improving safety and building safe and empowered neighborhoods, and in 2018, 桑德斯 received a Driven to Achieve Award, including a $40,000 donation to Safe & Sound, from the Donald Driver Foundation. She also received a 40 under 40 award from the Milwaukee Business Journal in 2015.
